Cobb Townhome Burns, Homeowner Arrested (UPDATED)

Matthew Olson, 31, was initially thought to be trapped inside unit on Audubon Drive, police say.

EAST COBB, GA -- A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of arson after fire engulfed his townhouse in East Cobb, according to news reports.

Police responding to the call in a townhome community on Audubon Drive found one unit burning while two others were ablaze, according to WGCL-TV.

Family members were initially worried for Matthew Olson, 31, who had reportedly made suicidal threats prior to his unit catching on fire. Firefighters thought he may be inside the structure, but soon noticed that his vehicle was missing.

Now Cobb police allege that he started the fire with a flammable liquid, WGCL reports.

Olson was apprehended a short time later around Powers Ferry, the TV station reported.
