Walton Baseball Star Drafted by Braves
But Stephen Wrenn says he'll play next season at the University of Georgia.

Near the end of a very long Major League Baseball draft, Stephen Wrenn's name was added the list of players chosen by the Atlanta Braves.
The Walton High School outfielder, who closed out his prep career by leading the Raiders to the state semifinals, was the only Cobb player chosen right out of high school as the draft concluded this weekend.
But Wrenn, who was taken in the 28th round, is committed to playing college baseball at the University of Georgia.

“I’m flattered the Braves drafted me. It was a classy move by their organization. It was a very nice gesture," he told The Marietta Daily Journal.
Several other former East Cobb prep standouts were also chosen in the draft, as reported by the MDJ. They are:

- Wheeler: Evan Mitchell (Cincinnati Reds); Sam Bragg (Oakland Athletics); Sam Agnew-Wieland (New York Yankees);
- Pope: Will Kendall (Pittsburgh Pirates);
- Lassiter: Steven Janas (Atlanta Braves);
- Sprayberry: Jared Breen (Baltimore Orioles).
Most of the players chosen were taken in middle-to-lower rounds. The exception is Janas, a pitcher at Kennesaw State taken in the 6th round and whom the MDJ reported is nearing a contract agreement with the Braves.
