Walton Orchestra Gets Cobb Recognition

The student musicians were honored by the school board this week for its trip to The Midwest Clinic education conference.

Members of the Walton High School Orchestra pose at Thursday's meeting of the Cobb Board of Education, which recognized them for last December's trip to Chicago for The Midwest Clinic.

The Midwest Clinic is one of the largest international band and orchestral music education conferences in the country.

Also taking part in the recognition were Walton Orchestra director Perry Holbrook and assistant director Sara Grimes.

The Walton Orchestra's program included the following performances:

  • Beethoven's Coriolan Overture, Op. 62;
  • Sebelius' Andante Festivo for Strings;
  • "The Pink Panther" theme by Henry Mancini and Robert Longfield;
  • Tchaikovsky's Marche Slave, Op. 31.
