GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Two separate apartment fires in Gwinnett County displaced multiple families Thursday afternoon, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.

According to the department, an air conditioner repair was the cause of the fire impacting the two-story apartment building.

Simultaneously, fire crews were dispatched to a second apartment fire in the 4300 block of Satellite Boulevard in Duluth.

The fire affected families in 14 units, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is unknown. It began near a playground and spread to the nearby apartment building, fire officials said.

The building's power meter was heavily damaged, and power was disconnected from the building.

Gwinnett fire officials said apartment management helped with finding shelter.
