• Animal officials urge caution after rise in rabies cases (wsbradio.com) — Gwinnett Animal Welfare and Enforcement is urging residents to be vigilant about rabies after recent rabid coyote incidents in the county. Officials stress calling animal control if bats or other potentially rabid animals are found, and acting quickly if a person or pet is bitten. They also remind pet owners to keep vaccinations current to protect families and neighborhoods.
   

• Uber driver killed, left in road; 15-year-old charged (whio.com) — A 58-year-old Uber driver from Grayson was shot and killed in what Gwinnett County police describe as a New Year’s morning carjacking, and a 15-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged as an adult with murder. Investigators say they traced the victim’s stolen SUV back to the Lilburn neighborhood where the trip began before taking the teen into custody.
   

• Man Wearing Just A Tablecloth Accused Of Stealing Cars In Gwinnett County (patch.com) — Gwinnett County police say a 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing two vehicles, entering an occupied home for car keys, and running through a neighborhood wearing only a tablecloth. Officers ultimately stopped a Mercedes he was driving and took him into custody without reported injuries. He faces multiple theft and burglary-related charges and remains held at Gwinnett County Jail on bond.
