Children Go Christmas Shopping With Cherokee Sheriff's Deputies

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit on Tuesday kicked off its 25th annual Christmas Joy Program with its Shop with a Cop event at Walmart on Bells Ferry Road in Towne Lake.

Shop with a Cop allows less fortunate children to shop for Christmas presents with sheriff’s deputies.

About 61 children got an opportunity to walk around the store with deputies and purchase toys for Christmas. Each child was able to spend between $75 and $80, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Deputies on Wednesday shopped with about 100 children at Walmart on Ball Ground Highway in Canton. On Thursday, Dec. 16, they will return to the Towne Lake Walmart where they will wrap up Christmas shopping with roughly 20 more children. Approximately $16,000 was raised to support this year’s event, the sheriff’s office said.

The good deeds won’t end there. On Saturday, Dec. 20, deputies will deliver food to approximately 26 less fortunate seniors in Cherokee County.

Sheriff Roger Garrison, Captain G.A. Eisenbrandt and his staff appreciate the community, local business and civic groups’ donations to support the Christmas Joy and Shop with a Cop programs, the agency added.

Approximately $16,000 was raised to support this year’s event.
