Keep On Moving

There are these times when everything seems bad. I feel like is in the middle of one of those times right now.

The details of the I was compelled to read all of Rodney’s stories for that little girl.

I feel like we should know what happened. Maybe that’s wrong. Maybe it doesn’t make sense. I just feel like we should know the truth and keep it in our minds for a while.

And these bad phases, they snowball. One bad news story turns into two, and two turns into three and then you find out that people are being mean to kids and dogs and cats and each other and it’s all but unbearable.

School is back in session with seniors tense for college applications and teachers stressing from budget cuts.  I’ve practically decided that there’s no way I can make a decent score on the GMAT and get into an MBA program. I’m still studying, $250 deposits make you not want to quit, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Even people are treating each other worse. Friends you love are getting more and more depressed as they add to the snowball of poop that’s bringing everything down. I know there are better metaphors than “snowball of poop” but I’m sorry, I just don’t have one right now.

Even this column is a downer as I try to find some redeeming sentence to bring the end back up. I don’t have one. This won’t end hopeful. I’m sorry in advance.

Then you get to this national level and there’s the Sopas and the Pipas and the boats turning over. There’s teachers going missing and endless proof that everything causes cancer.

Now I don’t even know where to start sorting it out. Things will get good again. They have to. A floodgate of something we can believe in will unlock and morale will be boosted. For now, I suppose we just survive it.

Right?
