Sheriff's Office Recognizes Top Deputies

The annual banquet showcased the accomplishments of the Reserve Unit for the past year.

The honored Reserve Deputy Paul Doss as the “2011 Reserve Deputy of the Year."

The reserve unit functions as a service arm of the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, according to a release.           

In 2011 the Reserve Unit consisted of 14 deputies, staffed by seven certified and seven auxiliary members.

They also put in a total of 5,811 hours of service for the Sheriff’s Office including Civic events, DUI Task Forces, Uniform Patrol Operations patrols, and shifts.

They raised more than $7,300 for the Christmas Joy Program enabling the unit to provide toys, food and basic necessities for 259 children and 113 elderly citizens of Cherokee County.
