• Heating assistance program now open (pickensprogress.com) — If you need help with winter heating bills in Pickens County, you can now apply through North Georgia Community Action at their Jasper office on Talking Rock Road. The state’s LIHEAP program offers first-come, first-served aid to income-eligible households, with seniors and medically homebound residents able to apply immediately and others starting January 2, 2026.
