Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. On Dec. 27, an employee of American Commerce Bank on Medlock Bridge Road alerted the Johns Creek Police of an attempt to defraud a bank account. According to the employee, a man with a cane walked in and tried to cash a check from another person's bank account. The suspect swiftly left the bank after finding out the bank teller must call to verify the check. The victim did not lose any money due to the incident and did not recognize the suspect. She had recently been contacted by investigators about suspicious activity at an Atlanta residence that she owns but does not live in, and suggested that may be where the suspect obtained one of her checks. 2. According to Nomad Lawyer, Johns Creek is the second best city to live in Georgia! In the article, "05 Best Cities to Live in Georgia," Johns Creek made the list because it is able to maintain a large population with a low crime rate, has "gorgeous and family friendly parks," an excellent school district, big city amenities, and a low unemployment rate. The only "cons" listed for Johns Creek are traffic congestion and that it does not have a historic downtown. (NomadLawyer)
  3. Yesterday, Jan. 12, there was a small fire in a dorm of the Fulton County Jail. According to authorities, two inmates are accused of purposely setting the fire and have been taken to the hospital for evaluation. Fire officials cleared out the smoke and inmates were able to return to the dorm. (Atlanta Patch)
