Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:

  1. Johns Creek Democrat Michelle Au is one of the sponsors of a proposed bi-partisan bill to raise Georgia's tobacco tax by 20 cents. Au said, "I don’t know if you know this, but Georgia has one of the lowest tobacco taxes in the nation. The second thing that [raising the tax] does, it actually disincentivizes harmful health behavior and decreases healthcare costs overall." She said it is less about increasing the revenue from the tax and more about helping public health. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. The City of Johns Creek is hosting "Daffodil Days," a week-long community volunteer effort, collaboration, and celebration from Mar. 19 to Mar. 25. Residents, business owners, and organizations can apply with their "give-back" idea, for example raising funds for local non-profits. The week-long efforts will be celebrated on Mar. 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, 11360 Lakefield Drive, and feature over 70 artisans, family-friendly activities, food, and more. (City of Johns Creek)
  3. The Johns Creek Police Department announced a new, "Coffee With A Cop," on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. Meet your local law enforcement from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Bagel Boys. (JCPD via Instagram)
