Autrey Mill Nature Preserve is your neighborhood nature preserve. Explore our trails, historic buildings, and meet our animal ambassadors—all for free. Founded in the 1970s as a grassroots effort, we became an official nonprofit in 1989 to protect this diverse woodland and its historic sites. What Makes AUTREY MILL Unique? Preserve Autrey Mill Nature Preserve is your neighborhood nature preserve. Explore our trails, historic buildings, and meet our animal ambassadors—all for free. Experience the unique wonders of nature, wildlife, and history through our educational programs. Appreciate Autrey Mill is a peaceful escape, providing a sanctuary for learning and discovery. Visitors can enjoy nature hikes, historic tours, classes, special events, summer camps, and break camps. Our animal ambassadors promote awareness of local wildlife. We thrive thanks to donations, volunteers and community support to preserve this special place for future generations. Explore The public has cost-free access to Autrey Mill’s grounds for hiking, nature study, strolling the pathways of the Heritage Village, and viewing our animal exhibits. Entrance to the grounds is free and is open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm 365 days of the year. The preserve has grown under the 35-year leadership and vision of our nonprofit. Today we welcome 14,000 annual visitors to explore our 1.3 miles of trails, animal exhibits, and the historical village.
