Beware Thieves Looking for Packages Left at Doorsteps
Johns Creek Police Officer Mark Johnson offers a few tips to take to avoid becoming a victim this holiday season.

With the holiday season well underway, homeowners should be aware of the seasonal uptick in the theft of delivered packages left at the front door.
"As more and more people do their shopping online, the public can expect an increase in the number of thefts of delivered packages from porches and doorsteps," said Johns Creek Police Officer Mark Johnson.
Officer Johnson has a few crime prevention tips to pass along to help ensure your Christmas gifts go to their intended recipients and not to the bad guys:
- If you're expecting packages delivered, check your front door frequently because delivery companies don't always knock or ring doorbells.
- If necessary, have the package delivered to a neighbor or to a location where someone can immediately retrieve it.
- Have packages delivered to your office.
- If you can't be available, make arrangements with your neighbor for them to pick them up.
- You can also make arrangements to pick up packages at delivery company stores or facilities.
- Keep all drapes closed so no one can see inside. Leave a television or radio on. Thieves are less likely to strike if they think someone is home.
- Do not post your schedule on social media sites, especially if you are going out of town.
