Here are the top three stories in and around Johns Creek today:

  1. A 16-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy were recovered by first responders from the bottom of a Johns Creek apartment complex swimming pool on Monday, Jun. 5. Police and emergency response personnel were called to the Estates at Johns Creek around 4:30 p.m. on Monday after a witness said she saw two youths playing in the pool who had been underwater for too long. Authorities are investigating, but as of Tuesday, it appears the incident was an accident. The teenage girl has been flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Scottish Rite, where her condition is unknown as of Tuesday morning. The boy is expected to make a full recovery.   2. In nearby Sandy Springs, contract negotiations between UPS and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters are reaching a head, as the Teamsters union has begun the process for members to vote on whether or not to strike. Per the Teamsters, union members employed by UPS will begin voting at union halls and outside of UPS facilities this coming week, with the UPS-Teamsters contract as it stands set to expire on Jul. 31. Teamsters general president Sean O'Brien has gone on record for a year now that if a new agreement is not reached, UPS may face a strike beginning Aug. 1. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. Fulton County's Cambridge High School auditorium suffered an electrical fire in its auditorium on Monday, Jun. 5, leading to an evacuation of the school that same day. As of Monday, there were no reported injuries, and first responders confirmed that no one was inside the auditorium when the fire occurred. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
