City to Add New Lane on Jones Bridge Road

The new northbound lane will run from Addison Way to Douglas Road.

If you haven't already, you'll soon notice Jones Bridge Road dotted with heavy equipment from Addison Way to Douglas Road in an effort to add a second northbound lane.

"This project will mirror the southbound lane we added last year," said Johns Creek Public Works Director Tom Black. "The problem is that now two northbound lanes become one lane at Addison Way, which creates a chokepoint that causes traffic to back up. By adding another northbound lane, it should create smoother flow of traffic from Abbotts Bridge Road to Douglas Road."

Construction of the one-third mile long project is scheduled to be finished by the end of July.

Adding another northbound lane is one of a series of projects planned for Jones Bridge Road over the current year. Additional turn lanes will be constructed at the intersections of Jones Bridge and Buice, Morton and Waters roads. A traffic signal will also be added at the Morton Road intersection. Several planned sidewalk projects will ultimately result in paved pathways along almost all of Jones Bridge Road, and will connect with other sidewalks and trails running through the city.
