Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. There is a special film screening of the PBS documentary, "Rising Against Asian Hate: One Day in March," on Friday, Mar. 17, at Regal Medlock Crossing in Johns Creek. The one-hour documentary pays tribute to the lives lost at the 2021 spa shootings, tracks the rise of anti-Asian racism, and shows a growing movement focused on stopping the hate. There will be a conversation with filmmakers, family, and activists after the screening. Tickets are free, but those who wish to attend must RSVP and reserve their seat. (Eventbrite.com)
  2. Johns Creek Elementary School was named number four in Stacker's list of "18 best public elementary schools in Georgia," using rankings from Nich. Johns Creek Elementary received an A+ as its Niche grade and has 998 students enrolled with a 16:1 student-to-teacher ratio. (The Georgia Sun)
  3. This fall, only three percent of students in the Fulton County School District have participated in tutoring programs. Many are worried that not enough students are getting the help they need, after remote learning and quarantine during the pandemic affected students' learning. The district hired only one paraprofessional to "give intense support in each elementary school" during the school day. According to the Fulton County School District, time and staffing limit the number of students who can receive tutoring. (The Current)
