Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:

  1. Yesterday, Nov. 18, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Thomas Cox heard arguments on an emergency request for an order allowing Georgia counties to offer voting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, in the Senate runoff election between Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker. Nov. 26 is the only possibility for Saturday voting, but Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said it would be illegal to hold early voting on the day after a state holiday. Warnock's campaign, the Democratic Party of Georgia, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee filed the lawsuit to allow counties the ability to hold early voting on Nov. 26, arguing that some voters need access to voting on Saturday if they cannot vote on a weekday. 2. The Fulton County Department of Arts & Culture announced the 2023 Contracts for Services (CFS) funding cycle and application process. Fulton County based artists, non-profit arts, organizations, non-profit cultural institutions, colleges and universities, schools, municipalities, and community based non-profit organizations can receive funding awards ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. The application deadline is Dec. 21, view the link to learn more and to register for the free virtual webinars that review the application process.(Fulton County Gov)
  3. The 90-day period for research requested by Atlanta City Council members is now over and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens can start the pact between Fulton County and Atlanta. The pact allows Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat to move inmates from the severely crowded Fulton County Jail to the almost empty downtown Atlanta jail. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
