Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. Yesterday, Nov. 15, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney overturned Georgia's ban on abortion starting around six weeks into a pregnancy. The judge ruled that the "Heartbeat Abortion Law," which bans most abortions after a heartbeat is detected and was signed by Gov. Brian Kemp in 2019, violated the U.S. Constitution and U.S. Supreme Court precedent when it was enacted. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. On Saturday, Nov. 12, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra (JCSO) performed its first Veterans Day-themed event in the Johns Creek Methodist Church sanctuary. The JCSO conductor, J. Wayne Baughman, directed nearly 80 professional musicians and the United States Air Force Tech. Sgt. Stacey Holliday performed as a vocal soloist. The Johns Creek Veterans Association (JCVA) Color Guard performed a presentation of colors and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. (Appen Media)
  3. About 6,460 pounds, or 3.23 tons, of glass was collected at the first pickup of the new glass recycling receptacle at Ocee Park. Johns Creek residents are encouraged to bring their recyclable glass to the designated container in the park parking lot, 10900 Buice Road, for recycling.
