Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- On May 15, a Fulton County mother who is facing charges of felony murder and cruelty to children waived her first appearance before a judge. Asia Calabrese-Lewis, 24, is accused of drowning her one-year-old daughter in a pond in Sandy Springs, about 18 miles from Johns Creek. Nirvana Oliver, 22 months old, died at the hospital after she was found in a narrow retention pond. Calabrese-Lewis is currently in custody at the Fulton County Jail. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- Former Commissioner Lee Morris, a Republican, was nominated as chairman of the Fulton County Board of Elections by Fulton Commission Chairman Robb Pitts, a Democrat. Some are worried this could "flip" or change the control of elections oversight from Democrat to Republican because 73 percent of Fulton County has supported and voted for Democrats. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- The roster for who is playing at the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill is now available. Anthony Cordes, of Johns Creek, is one of 20 PGA Professionals who qualified through the PGA Professional Championship. With 156 golfers, the PGA Championship at Oak Hill is the first full-field major Championship. (Golf.com)
