Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. On Wednesday night, Feb. 1, the Fulton County Board of Commission passed a resolution to extend the curfew hours for unaccompanied minors aged 16 years old or younger due to increased violence and deaths involving young people. The new curfew starts three hours earlier, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day, Sunday through Thursday. The Friday and Saturday curfew will remain the same, beginning at 12:01 a.m. through 6 a.m. the next day. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. The Johns Creek Police Department is investigating fraudulent checks deposited at Delta Community Credit Union from Jan. 4 to 5. A loss prevention officer from the bank contacted the police on Jan. 20 and said a man entered the bank on two occasions to deposit checks, one for $2,485 and the other for $2,460.50, and then withdrew the money at the ATM. She said both checks were fraudulent, which caused the bank to lose money. The bank has photographs and recordings of the man depositing the checks and withdrawing the money but has been unable to contact him. (Appen Media)
  3. The City of Johns Creek recently recognized three Johns Creek Communications Department members for receiving MarCom Awards, which honor "excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals." Connor McFadden was given a Platinum award for a police recruitment video; Edie Damann received a Gold award for a print media insert on local high school football programs; and Jennifer Chapman was given a Gold award for Johns Creek's strategic priorities website pages, print, and videos.
