Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. A Fulton County Jail inmate was allegedly "eaten alive by insects and bed bugs" in his cell and his family is demanding answers. On Jun. 12, 2022, 35-year-old Lashawn Thompson was arrested and detained on a misdemeanor battery charge. On Sep. 12, 2022, Thompson "was found dead, infested with bed bugs and insects," according to Michael B. Harper, an attorney representing Thompson's three siblings. Harper and Thompson's family are calling "for the closure and replacement of the Fulton County Jail, and to request a criminal investigation into the death of Lashawn Thompson." (Newsweek)
  2. The City of Johns Creek is inviting the community to the annual State of the City Address on Thursday, Apr. 27, starting at 6:00 p.m. at Chattahoochee High School. Mayor John Bradberry will give an address and the city will "highlight last year's accomplishments while looking forward to our strategic priorities and continued progress in 2023."   3. Goalkeeper Jenna Sapong, of Northview High School in Johns Creek, has been officially added to the Auburn University soccer team. Auburn soccer and head coach Karen Hoppa said, "We are really excited to add Jenna to our 2023 class.
