Fulton Science Academy Named Finalist In STEM Education Awards

Awards recognize excellence in science, technology, engineering and math education in Georgia.

ALPHARETTA, GA. (October 10, 2016) – The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed) announced today that Fulton Science Academy Private School (FSAPS) has been named a finalist in two categories of the 2016 Georgia STEM Education Awards. The school was selected from more than 130 nominees and is being recognized in both the middle school and extracurricular categories.

The Georgia STEM Education Awards recognizes schools, programs, and companies for outstanding efforts and achievements in supporting and promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Education in Georgia.

FSAPS Principal, Kenan Sener, commented, “I could not be more proud of our students, our faculty, and the many dedicated parent volunteers who work tirelessly to help our extracurricular academic teams thrive. It was such an honor for our school to represent the state of Georgia in five national and international academic competitions thus far this year, and we would like to thank our friends at Tag and Tag-Ed for hosting such an important event that brings attention to the many wonderful STEM programs happening within the state of Georgia.”

Finalists competed in 8 different categories in the statewide event. “It was truly a challenge to choose from among the many applicants from around Georgia for these finalists,” said Tino Mantella, president & CEO of TAG. “We applaud all of our applicants for their excellent work in STEM.”

Winners will be announced during a special awards gala on November 4 at the Loudermilk Center in Atlanta.

“It is so gratifying to see STEM education gaining momentum throughout the state of Georgia,” said Michael Robertson, executive director of TAG-Ed. “The schools selected as finalists are leading the way in this effort and sharing best practices that will prepare our students for the challenges ahead. “
