Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- Those who regularly drive on the Georgia 400 may have a longer commute for the next year. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, officials plan to shut down one of the highway's busiest bridges for at least a year. Work begins on Kimball Bridge Road this week as part of the Georgia 400 Express Lane Project. The closure will be between North Point Parkway and Northwinds Parkway. A new route is in place to detour around the closed road. Drivers should expect increased traffic and reduced speeds. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- While you may have a longer commute on the Georgia 400, those who drive on Old Alabama Road into Autrey Mill Middle will find significantly reduced traffic. The turn lane into the school was extended by 400 feet, adding more capacity for vehicles turning during peak school hours. (City of Johns Creek)
- Intuit, the parent company of TurboTax, has agreed to a $141 million multistate settlement after it was found to have deceived low-income taxpayers into paying for tax services that should have been free. The settlement covers nearly 150,000 Georgia residents who paid to file their federal tax returns through TurboTax for tax years 2016 to 2018. The amount each consumer receives will depend on the number of tax years for which they qualify, with most expected to receive between $29 and $30. (WSB Atlanta)
