Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- Jemarcus Jernigen, 17, turned himself into police in connection with the alleged murder of Atlanta native Rasheeda Williams, "Koko Da Doll," a transgender woman who appeared in the 2023 Sundance Film Festival documentary "Kokomo City." Williams was killed earlier this month at a retail development near Martin Luther King Drive SW and Hamilton E. Holmes Drive. Police do not currently believe Williams was targeted because she was transgender. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- The FBI has put out a warrant for the arrest of Christopher Burns, a former youth pastor at Perimeter Church in Johns Creek. Burns is accused of committing fraud against numerous investors during his tenure as a financial advisor and is suspected of taking millions of dollars for personal use, which reportedly includes a fascination with Disney World. On September 24, 2020, Burns was last seen by his ex-wife and children, just before he was scheduled to submit business-related documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission. (The Christian Post)
- A Johns Creek resident reported to police that empty envelopes were sent from his address across the country, even though he did not send them and did not allow anyone else to use his address. He had been receiving empty envelopes that were "returned to sender" for about two weeks, and people were calling him daily to ask why he sent them. The resident contacted his local post office, which instructed him to file a report online and hold any future envelopes for investigation by the postmaster. (Appen Media)
