Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, all 350 female detainees previously housed at the Union City South Annex have been transferred to the Atlanta City Detention Center (ACDC). This is the first step in relieving the chronic overcrowding of the Fulton County Jail and part of the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Atlanta and Fulton County. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- A Johns Creek family gave back this holiday season by donating money and gifts for foster children through Wellroot Family Services, a nonprofit that cares for over 244 children. When Susan Matt learned about Wellroot's holiday gift “wish list,” her daughter Diana, a Wilson Creek Elementary School student, asked friends to help raise money and buying presents for the Wellroot’s children. The Matt family and friends raised about $750 through a collection drive and were able to buy a lot of presents on Wellroot's wish lists. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- On Dec. 17, the Johns Creek Police Department posted about a lost dog that was found at the Rivemont Park by the river. The dog is collared but there is no information on the collar and he is not chipped. Contact the Fulton County Animal Control at 404-613-0358 if you know the owner of the dog.
