1. The Corky Kell Classic opened on Wednesday at Johns Creek, amounting to a loss for the home team at 52-7. The opponents, Parkview Panthers, can thank team member Mike Matthews for their success. Matthews was considered the highest-ranked recruit going into the game and demonstrated his skill early on. Ultimately, Matthews was instrumental in big plays on both offensive and defensive plays. 2. Although summer is slipping away, the City of Johns Creek is still hosting its Summer Concert series. Ansley Steward Band and Lilac Wine will be playing Sep. 3 at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater inside Newtown Park.
