Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:

  1. Johns Creek police assisted the Georgia State Patrol in the pursuit of a reportedly stolen vehicle, a blue Nissan Sentra, traveling on Haynes Bridge Road toward Old Alabama Road on Feb. 6. The driver had fled after the Georgia State Patrol attempted a traffic stop. After the police caught up to the vehicle, the male driver exited through the window and attempted to flee on foot but tripped and fell in a driveway on Old Alabama Road. Georgia State Patrol took the driver into custody. (Appen Media)
  2. On Monday, Feb. 13, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis testified in front of the Georgia senate judiciary committee to support the proposed Senate Bill 12. The Republican-backed legislation would allow elected superior court judges to set bonds for repeat offenders and gang members so they can be "held accountable," increase penalties for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in cases involving domestic violence, and allow a district attorney to prosecute gang members accused of committing crimes in multiple counties. Willis said, "It makes it financially feasible and just common sense" to prosecute in Fulton County "if most of the acts that they did happened in Fulton County but they had two or three in DeKalb," this way they can "keep it all together." But opponents of the bill are worried that longer jail times and higher bonds would lead to more overcrowding at Fulton County Jail. (WSB-TV)
  3. The City of Johns Creek needs sponsors for Daffodil Days, a week-long give-back and volunteer effort. According to the city, businesses can increase their exposure by participating in the community celebration. Johns Creek's Daffodil Days begins on Mar. 19 and ends on Mar. 25; click here to learn more. (City of Johns Creek via Twitter)
