Here are the top three stories in and around Johns Creek today:

  1. On Jan. 13, the owner of a logistics company told the Johns Creek Police that he believes one of his managers and the manager's wife stole $1.8 million over eight years. According to the police report, the owner provided police with multiple documents from Metro City Bank and a thumb drive filled with the manager's transactions. The owner believes the couple created a small business named Asiana Export in 2013 to move the money. (Appen Media)
  2. On Monday, a federal judge ordered Eliza Bacot of Fulton County to pay $15,000 and submit to further settlement sanctions in response to a civil lawsuit. Bacot allegedly violated two federal laws, the FTC Act and the COVID-19 Consumer Protection Act, when she marketed essential oils and supplements as treatments for COVID-19 during two Zoom webinars in January 2022. Bacot allegedly made false claims and misled consumers when she said several products from doTerra, a multilevel marketing company, were effective in preventing and treating COVID-19 and long-haul COVID-19, as well as counteracting side effects from COVID-19 vaccines. 3. Federico "Fred" Castellucci III, the president and CEO of Castellucci Hospitality Group, was named as one of Atlanta's most powerful hospitality leaders in the "2023 Atlanta 500: Restaurants & Hospitality." After graduation, he took over and rejuvenated the family business, Sugo in Johns Creek. In 2018, Castellucci was named Restaurateur of the Year at the GRACE Awards. He is now involved in various early-stage hospitality technology companies. (Atlanta Magazine)
