  1. The Johns Creek Police Department invites the community to a free Suicide Awareness and Prevention Event. The panel discussion is scheduled for Thursday, Sep. 8, at Johns Creek Baptists Church from 6:30-8 p.m. "On average, 1.4 million people attempt to take their lives each year, and 48,000 succeed. Together, we can lower these numbers," stated the JCPD. Registration for the event is available online. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. The City of Johns Creek, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Johns Creek - North Fulton, returns to host its annual Patriot Day / Sept. 11 Commemoration event as an opportunity for remembrance and reflection. The free event, which will take place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheatre inside Newtown Park, will honor the service and sacrifice of first responders and military personnel. During the commemoration, there will be a moment of silence as well as the ringing of a memorial bell. (City of Johns Creek
  3. If you have some old magazines lying around your house, the Johns Creek Arts Center will happily take them off your hands. This year's JCAC Magazine Drive has a goal of collecting 30 gently used magazines, which will be used in classes and outreach programs. Those who wish to contribute can visit JCAC between 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. during the week or 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays. (Johns Creek Arts Center via Facebook)
