Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. The Johns Creek City Council approved special permits and zoning variances to expand Chabad of North Fulton, a synagogue and Jewish community center. The council amended the city's zoning map for an 8,000-square-foot parsonage house, a two-story 15,000-square-foot
gym, an outdoor basketball court, three recreational fields, an expansion of the existing daycare play field, and three gazebos. (Appen Media)
  2. The Johns Creek City Council might form a nonprofit with a board of advisors to provide guidance in the restoration and preservation of the Macedonia African Methodist Church Cemetery, where formerly enslaved people and their relatives are buried. The city council set aside $100,000 in the 2022 budget for the restoration, but council members say there needs to be a plan to move forward. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. Fulton County had the most fatal accidents of any county in Georgia, according to a new analysis from MoneyGeek of fatality data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration from 2018 to 2020. The majority of these accidents happened on I-285, a road that held two spots out of the five in the list of deadliest five-mile stretches of road in Georgia. (The Center Square)
