Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- Suburbs in Georgia and other swing states around the country have helped Democrats win in the past couple of years, but, according to some, that may not be the case this election. Democratic state Senator Michelle Au, an anesthesiologist running for the statehouse in Johns Creek, recently spoke at a candidate debate hosted by high school students. Au thinks the suburbs will keep voting Democrat and said, "The way this area has changed, and the way it's changed rapidly, has come under notice after the 2020 election, when Georgia flipped blue, due to turnout in areas like this." (GPB News)
- Fulton County Schools provided more information about the board of education applicants. The board is searching for someone to take over for Gail Dean who will retire at the end of this month. The selected applicant will serve for the rest of Dean's term until the end of 2024. View the link to learn more about the seven remaining applicants. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Sierra Fowler, a sophomore from Johns Creek, was named the Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week. She is currently second in the Peach Belt, second in shutouts, fourth in save percentage, and has a 0.81 goals against average. (Peach Belt Conference)
