Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:

1. The Johns Creek City Council recently voted to install a guardrail instead of building a wall on the shoulder along Parsons Road, between Royce Drive and Hampstead Way, to protect motorists from the steep drop-off. The guardrail will cost about $35,000, while the wall would have cost about $950,000. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
2. Senate Bill 51, which would end the sales tax on menstrual products called the "tampon tax" in Georgia, did not advance out of the Legislature. Lacey Gero, manager of state policy at the Alliance for Period Supplies, said about the four percent tax on menstrual products, "Period supplies are not luxury items, and they should not be taxed as such. In states like Georgia, we’re seeing that the products are being taxed at the same rate or similar rate to decor and electronics or makeup and toys." But House Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones, a Johns Creek Republican, argues that eliminating the tax would cost the state treasury around $13 million a year and would have "negligible effect" on individuals purchasing menstruation products. 3. A new lounge named Jalsa opened at 2000 Ray Moss Connector in Johns Creek on Apr. 7 and brought a "whole new vibe" to the area. The 21-and-over lounge includes an unlimited buffet, cocktail bar, and Bollywood-style entertainment. The lounge's operating hours for weekends are 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 8:00 p.m. to midnight on Sundays. (What Now Atlanta)
