Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- Johns Creek City Council recently approved over $3M in construction contracts to improve multi-modal connectivity, including a bike lane and pedestrian trail, along Jones Bridge Road between Douglas Road and McGinnis Ferry Road. The city-approved contracts include a $2,571,441 construction contract with Summit Construction and Development, a $93,377 construction engineering and inspection task order with Lowe Engineers, and a $257,144 10-percent construction contingency. - Fulton County Animal Services has called its current situation an emergency. The shelter said 150 dogs are in danger of being euthanized if they do not get adopted in the coming days due to being exposed to the flu. According to the shelter, there is not enough space to properly isolate sick animals, which is causing the sick dogs to get worse and some have already passed away due to the illness. Officials said the most "critical" issue is finding homes as soon as possible for the 65 dogs housed at LifeLine Midtown Shelter. All dog adoption fees will be waived and no adoption appointment is needed. (WSB-TV)
- Johns Creek's Summer Concert Series returns with September in the Park, an Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago tribute show, on Friday, May 5. The free concert, located at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater inside Newtown Park, will also feature food trucks. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and music starts at 7:00 p.m. (City of Johns Creek, Georgia - Government)
