Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. On Wednesday, May 10, Democrats in the Georgia General Assembly called on Republican Governor Brian Kemp to bring gun-safety reforms to a vote right away by convening a special session of the legislature. Some Democrats said the chances of the reforms passing are still slim, but the " political winds" are shifting. Rep. Michelle Au, (D) Johns Creek said, "The culture is starting to change and I think we are seeing that in Georgia." (11 Alive)
  2. Hopewell Middle School in nearby Milton was placed on "hard lockdown" on Tuesday, May 9, after a bus driver reported that someone appeared to have a gun. School officials sent a letter to parents, saying the lockdown was lifted after Milton police identified the person as a student carrying a realistic-looking airsoft gun. (WSB-TV)
  3. Every third Tuesday, Le'Moine Live presents R&B Night at Beaumonde Cigar Bar & Restaurant in Alpharetta down the street from Johns Creek. The next performance will take place on May 16, don't miss "some of the best food and drinks in Johns Creek!" (Johns Creek Patch)
