Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- The midterm election is coming to a close and today, Nov. 8, is the last day to vote. In Johns Creek, Deb Powell and Kirsten Moore have been knocking on doors and talking to neighbors to get more people to vote. Deb said she can make a difference by talking to neighbors because "in a city the size of Johns Creek with 80,000 inhabitants, victory can be decided within 12 votes." (Lookcharms.com)
- The Johns Creek City Council recently approved an updated ordinance on bicycles. The ordinance allows persons 18 years of age or younger to ride bicycles on sidewalks and allows persons of all ages to ride bicycles on public multi-use trails that are at least eight feet wide. The council members have been amending the city code to encourage multi-modal transportation to fulfill the vision of Johns Creek as a multi-modal transportation city. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The Johns Creek Police Department will have a "Roving Roll Call" next week. All are welcome to come and watch roll call, ask questions, and meet the officers. The event will take place at Masjid Jafar Al-Rahmah Community Center on Nov. 18 at 6:00 p.m. (Johns Creek PD via Twitter)
