Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- The City of Johns Creek is accepting applications for retail vendors at the Johns Creek International Festival, which celebrates the best traditional food, music and art from the countries and cultures represented in the diverse Johns Creek community. The festival will take place on Saturday, Apr. 29 on the fields across from the Atlanta Athletic Club. Click here for details on the festival and to apply as a retail vendor, food vendor, sponsor, volunteer, or performer. (City of Johns Creek via Twitter)
- The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has been working with the metro Atlanta-based company Talitrix to create a wristband that tracks inmates every five seconds and monitors their biometrics. According to Sheriff Patrick Labat, the wearable technology will help combat staffing shortages as well as protect both inmates and officers by knowingly the heartrate, blood pressure, out-of-cell time, and location of each inmate. The inmates will also use the wristband to order commissary, almost like ApplePay. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- The 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships took place on Feb. 18 in Australia, after a four-year break due to COVID-related travel restrictions.
