Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- On Dec. 21, a man told the Johns Creek Police that he was swindled out of $16,500 the previous week — this was the third time he had been swindled through bitcoin-related scams. The scam was using the website Bivavothe.com, and the man thought it was a sister website to the legitimate BitVavo.com. The man said he has been in direct contact with a woman about the funds and that he would cooperate with the police in giving them all the information he had about her. (Appen Media)
- Yesterday, Jan. 5, renovations began on the Shakerag Park restrooms near the athletic fields. The City of Johns Creek announced the restrooms will be closed during construction, which is expected to be completed in late February. Park-goers can still use the restrooms near the Shakerag Park entrance, which will be open. (City of Johns Creek)
- A contract medical assistant was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into the Fulton County Jail. According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Ebonee Grant was accused of trying to conceal marijuana and tobacco products as she entered the jail to begin her shift but was caught at the security checkpoint. The investigation is ongoing. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
