Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. A Johns Creek woman recently reported to police that her vehicle had been vandalized by Jolly Ranchers. The woman told authorities she believed the vandals to be her former friends, who she had blocked by phone number and social media account, and who had been stalking and harassing her. Two teenagers admitted to authorities they had placed the Jolly Ranchers on the woman's car as "payback," but the woman has declined to press charges and instead has asked police to document the incident if the harassment continues. 2. An employee at Mavis Tire in nearby Milton reported to police on May 8 that $1,000 had been stolen from the business through a refund by a man who had repair work done on a blue Honda Accord. Per Mavis Tire's staff, all the man would have had to do is click the wrong buttons on the user interface and submit a fraudulent refund to himself. Security footage shows the man performing the scam, and crumpling up the receipt for the fraudulent transaction afterward. Someone matching the description of the suspect, described as a 5'9"-to-5'10" black man with a slim build, black hair in a twist style, and wearing a white T-shirt, black sweatpants, and gold chain, has been spotted doing the same scam in Johns Creek at another Mavis Tire location. (Appen Media)
  3. Fulton County man Demarko Moss has been found guilty of the 2018 murder of his girlfriend, Keisha Smith, per District Attorney Fani Willis. Following the verdict, Judge Scott McAfee sentenced Moss to life without the possibility of parole, with an additional 15 years on top. According to the prosecution, on Sep. 2, 2018, at roughly 10:00 p.m., Moss shot his girlfriend, Keisha Smith, three times while she was seated in her car at her apartment complex in full view of her two children in the back seat. The shooting allegedly occurred in the course of a breakup between Moss and Smith, and the medical examiner found Smith to have been in the early stages of pregnancy at the time of her death.
