Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. The Johns Creek Police Department and Roswell Police Department are following 21st-century policing, which was introduced by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2015. It consists of six pillars focused on reducing crime and building trust with the public. A large part of the system focuses on getting to know the community through initiatives including citizen's police academies, coffee with a cop, and meetings dedicated to each part of the community. (Appen Media)
  2. The cold front and strong winds on Friday morning, Dec. 23, resulted in a lot of downed trees and power outages in metro Atlanta and north Georgia. Thousands around the Johns Creek area are dealing with no heat or power in the freezing temperatures. Click here to see the Georgia Power outage map, or call Georgia Power at 888-891-0938 to report and check the status of an outage 24 hours a day. (11 Alive)
  3. On Dec. 11, Johns Creek Police responded to a call from a woman claiming her male neighbor had strangled her after an argument over the position of a basketball hoop on Jones Bridge Road. Later, the woman changed her statement and said the man pushed her. The man said he "simply placed his hand on her shoulder in a caring manner in an attempt to reason with her on the nature of their argument," which was corroborated by parties from both residences. Police determined that a physical assault did not occur, and no arrests were made. (Appen Media)
