- Macy’s is opening a Market concept store at the Johns Creek Town Center. The 30,000-square-foot store will be the third Market by Macy's location in metro Atlanta. The store, notably smaller than their typical department store, will feature less inventory. The ribbon cutting will be on Aug. 19 at 11:30 a.m. and a private shopping event with Rainbow Village will happen on Aug. 18. (CBS 46 News)
- Tomorrow, Aug. 17, Johns Creek will play Parkview in the Corky Kell Classic. Parkview's head coach, Eric Godfree, will be a guest on the podcast 'Georgia Prep Sports: Drive for the GHSA State Title'. Other guests on the podcast hosted by Craig Sager II, the Chief Editor of Score Atlanta, will include Mill Creek Coach Josh Lovelady and Benedictine Head Coach Danny Britt. The podcast airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at noon. (CBS 46 News)
- Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney has dismissed a request for a temporary halt to Georgia's Heartbeat Law. The so-called heartbeat law bans abortions starting around six weeks of pregnancy, when many people may just be finding out they are pregnant. Attorneys from a women's reproductive rights group called for the temporary halt, but Judge McBurney wrote, "Put more plainly, the Court is dismissing the motion, not on its merits but because the Court lacks jurisdiction to consider its merits."
