Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:
- Following the mass shooting in a predominantly Asian community during a Lunar New Year celebration in California, communities in metro Atlanta with similar demographics are worried. In response, Rep. Dr. Michelle Au, who represents Georgia's District 50 including Johns Creek, is reintroducing three proposals this legislative session to strengthen gun laws. The proposals include a waiting period for firearm purchases, universal background checks and extending background checks to cover private gun sales and transfers, and a safe storage bill to help prevent children from accessing guns in the home. - Speaking of Rep. Dr. Michelle Au, you can meet her at the House District 50 Town Hall on Friday, Jan. 27! Stay updated on Au's work for the district, the efforts of the General Assembly, and share your priority issues and concerns for Au to work on during this session. The Town Hall will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Divine Coffee, located at 7725 McGinnis Ferry Road in Johns Creek. Click here to RSVP, or just stop by. (Dr. Michelle Au via Twitter)
- The City of Johns Creek released the Vitality Committee 2023 Public Meeting Calendar. All meetings will start at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 11360 Lakefield Drive in Johns Creek. The first meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 8, click the link to see the full list of 2023 meetings. (Appen Media)
