Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. Hannah Boberg, a Johns Creek student, was chosen to attend an environmental summit in Virginia. The Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University featured 100 students attending a week-long study of leadership in environmental and conservation studies. Students met experts in the field, like Tome Lovejoy, former executive vice president of the World Wildlife Fund.(Appen Media)
  2. The Johns Creek City Council approved the Parsons Road development with one notable caveat. The Providence Group originally submitted an application for 29 single-family homes, but the council only approved the project with 20 homes. The council's decision comes following residents outcry on the overwhelming density the original proposal would bring to the area. (Appen Media)
  3. The City of Johns Creek broke ground on the Old Alabama Road extension project. The project, near the Falls of Autry Mill neighborhood, aims to stabilize the roadway embankment and prevent future erosion. (City of Johns Creek, Georgia via Instagram)

Today in Johns Creek:

  • Singles Outdoor Adventures Hike At Jones Bridge (9:30 AM)
  • Live Music - The Riff Blender Band At Abbott's Bar And Grill (7:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • We're in the heat of kitten season and the currently available pets in the area certainly reflect that. Consider the black, candy bar kittens — Hershey, Twix, Snickers, and Chocolate Chip — or, if your tastes differ, check out Veggies, the Boxer-Border Collie mix. (Johns Creek Patch)
  • Have you been to the trails in Technology park? This beautiful path is within walking distance to the hotels in Johns creek and perfect for fitting into your day. Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau via Facebook)
