- North Fulton cities and the county are debating a new formula for sales tax. In 2020, Alpharetta received $15.5 million, or 5.8 percent of the total collected in the county, while Milton received $8.8 million, or 3.3 percent of proceeds. The tax distribution is renegotiated every ten years, where the money is usually divided by population for each city with a small amount for the county. Fulton County is suggesting raising its portion proceeds from 4.9 percent to 35 percent. (Appen Media)
- An out-of-state suspect is sought in an alleged local fraud. The Kentucky woman used information from a Johns Creek resident to buy two phones at T-Mobile before stealing the packages before they could be delivered to the resident's home. The victim noticed an $84 purchase on her debit card from T-Mobile and found out the transaction had been a down payment on phones. The victim’s neighbor circled the neighborhood to get the suspect’s license plate number, which ultimately allowed police to identify her as a resident of Kentucky. (Appen Media)
- On Friday, the City of Johns Creek hosted an Adaptive Recreation Bingo Night for young adults with special needs. The event was held at Park Place inside Newtown Park, and attendees were able to play several rounds of bingo and win prizes. According to the City, these types of special needs recreation programs and events are designed to expose participants to new experiences and promote community involvement. Another Adaptive Recreation Bingo Night will be held on Nov. 4 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Until then, check out these Facebook photos shared by the City to get a behind-the-scenes look at this fun event!
