- At the year-end meeting of One Johns Creek Coalition, a group that fights drug abuse in the community, representatives from Milton and Alpharetta were in attendance and looking to form their own wellness alliance. Johns Creek Mayor John Bradberry, Councilwoman Stacy Skinner, and a representative from the Johns Creek Police Department were also in attendance as the coalition presented the group's accomplishments over the year and the goals for 2023. - Johns Creek Police Chief Mark Mitchell recently spoke at the ISB Atlanta 2022 Annual Gala. The Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB) of Atlanta is a nonprofit organization that aims to foster relationships and promote religious understanding between Muslims and the broader community. In 2021, the JCPD had a training session with ISB and will continue the partnership with ISB. Chief Mitchell said, "Our goal this year really has been to engage and connect, and continue to build trust and relationships with our [Muslim] community." (ISB Atlanta via Instagram)
- Last night, Dec. 9, ABC's show "Shark Tank" aired an all-new episode (season 14, episode 9) which featured two inventors from Johns Creek. Stephen Fazio and Austin Hillam created The ZipString, a gravity-defying string, that became a "global phenomenon." Their family and friends helped them build and ship thousands of ZipStrings from Johns Creek during the COVID-19 pandemic. (Sportskeeda.com)
- Valeria Brenner, a University of Georgia marketing and international business major from Johns Creek, won first place in the 2022 "Servin' the South" Business Model Competition hosted by the University of Mississippi Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. - Animal shelters and rescues across metro Atlanta are at or over capacity. When the shelters are stretched too thin, the county rescues would help take in animals.
