Police Continue Search For Missing Johns Creek Woman

Carol Lynn Smith left her home around 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5 to run an errand and has not returned to the city.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — It's been more than 48 hours, and a Johns Creek woman's whereabouts remain a mystery for police and her family. Carol Lynn Smith, 64, was reported missing on Monday, Nov. 5 by her family when she didn't return to her home off Old Alabama Road near Buice Road after running some errands.

Johns Creek police said Smith left home without her cell phone and has not been seen or heard from since Monday. Capt. Chris Byers said Johns Creek police detectives have received information on possible sightings of Smith, but they have all "turned out not to be her."

The Spalding County Sheriff's Office said Thursday on its Facebook page that Smith may have been seen this week at the downtown Griffin post office. However, a relative of Smith said they've reviewed security footage and have determined the woman was not Smith, according to her Facebook page.

"We now have no reason to believe she was in Griffin. We’ve had no scans on the tag, no sightings and no debit card activity since before Lynn went missing on Monday at 11:00," daughter-in-law Jillian Smith said. "We are regrouping and trying to decide what to do next. I will update as soon as we have a game plan. Please continue to spread the word and be on the look out for Lynn and the van."

Johns Creek police said in its be-on-the-lookout alert that Smith is believed to be driving a maroon 2015 Honda Odyssey bearing Georgia tag number DPH174.
