- The Shakerag Park turf cricket pitches will be closed from Monday, Aug. 29 to Friday, Sept. 2 for maintenance repairs. The pitches will also receive the installation of a molded rubber border surrounding the area. The City of Johns Creek asks residents to stay off the pitches during the week of maintenance. - As the mosquito population increases, Fulton County Board of Health will conduct nighttime spraying with EPA-approved products within a quarter mile of infected areas, including Newtown Park in Johns Creek. Tips to prevent mosquito-born illnesses include wearing EPA-approved repellent, treating clothing and gear, Mosquito-proofing your home, and cleaning gutters and window screens. - On Friday, the husband of Ciera Breland, a missing woman who was last seen in Johns Creek nearly six months ago, was denied bond by a Fulton County judge in a separate stalking case. Xavier Breland Jr. was acquitted last week of stalking in another county. The new charges involved one woman, Brittany Lusk, who discovered a tracking device on the underside of her car. According to Johns Creek police Lieutenant Debra Coble, Breland is still a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, attorney Ciera Locklair Breland. (Yahoo! News)
