The body of Adelisa Muratovic was found Oct. 30 inside a burning vehicle, hours after police say she was shot and killed in Johns Creek.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The third and final man charged in connection to a murder stemming from a violent drug deal remains at large, Johns Creek Police say.

These events unfolded when officers received a call of shots fired around 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the Retreat at Johns Creek apartment complex at 6005 State Bridge Road. Witnesses told police they heard what sounded like gunfire at the complex's leasing office and thought they heard a car leaving the scene. Some of the perpetrators, the witnesses added, fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.
A few hours later, Lawrenceville police received a call of a car in flames and once firefighters extinguished the blaze, a body was found among the ashes. Detectives in that jurisdiction were given a tip that led them to the victim's acquaintance, who informed police of their movements at the Johns Creek apartment complex.
According to police, Smith, Muratovic and Flournoy ventured to the apartment complex to buy drugs. When they arrived, they were approached by the seller, identified as Sims, who brandished a handgun and began firing, according to WSB-TV.
Capt. Byers said a "gun battle ensued" in the parking lot, and Muratovic was struck during the exchange. Sims hopped in to the car, with Muratovic still inside, and drove the vehicle to Lawrenceville where it was torched with the woman's body inside, the station added.
A GoFundMe page was created to help Muratovic family's pay for any necessary expenses related to their loved one's passing. A little more than $17,000 has been raised towards the campaign aiming for $15,000.
"It has been 21 days since she was murdered and burned," according to a message posted more than three weeks ago. "We trusted that the officers working on the case will find out who is responsible and as of today we finally do. We trust that they will find them, and we trust the process that will make sure that justice is served. Thank you for your continuous support and prayers."
