1 Dead, 1 Injured In Kennesaw Apartment Shooting

A suspect is facing murder charges in a shooting that injured his mother, Cobb County Police said.

KENNESAW, GA — A man died, and a woman was injured, after an exchange of gunfire Sunday night at a George Busbee Parkway apartment, Cobb County Police said Monday.

The deadly shooting was the result of a dispute at the apartment, police said. When officers arrived, they found the suspect's mother in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds and the man inside the apartment with a gunshot wound, police said.

Following a dispute, police said Anthony Lockett, a 22-year-old Kennesaw resident, left the apartment and returned with family members.

Accused of being armed with a gun, police said Lockett then confronted the people inside the apartment and fired multiple times, hitting Jalen Parker.

Parker, 24, of Kennesaw, was later taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.

During the shooting, police said a second person returned fire and Lockett's mother was shot. The 40-year-old Kennesaw woman was taken to the parking lot of the apartment complex, where first responders found her, police said.

She was then taken to Wellstar Kennestone, where she was in stable condition, police said.

Lockett was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and felony murder, police said. His relationship with Lockett was unknown.
