615,000 Older Toyota Sienna Minivans Recalled

Nissan recalls 100,000 Infiniti MJ luxury models in the U.S.

Toyota has recalled 615,000 older model Sienna minivans in the U.S. because of a problem with some cars shifting out of park without the driver pressing the brake pedal.

The recall covers Siennas from model years 2004, 2005 and 2007-2009. Toyota received reports of 21 accidents and two injuries from the problem.

The issue: the vehicle’s gearshift lever can experience damage to the shift lock solenoid. When that happens, drivers can accidentally nudge the lever out of park without a foot on the brake.

Owners will be notified by mail and dealers will make the necessary repairs for free.

Meanwhile, Nissan is recalling 908,000 vehicles worldwide for defective accelerator sensors that could cause the engine to stall. Most of those vehicles are in Japan, but 100,000 Infiniti M luxury models in the U.S. are included. No accidents have been reported, according to reports.
