KENNESAW, GA — Kennesaw Police are warning residents of fake $100 bills circulating in the north Cobb County town.

Police on Wednesday said they have received a report about the bills, which don the phrases “For Motion Picture Use Only” and "In Prop We Trust" on them.

The "convincing" bills are frequently used as prop money for movies or training, police said. They warned residents to "stay alert and protect your money."

Police offered these tips regarding counterfeit $100 bills:

  • Look for phrases like “For Motion Picture Use Only” or foreign characters.
  • The back may read “IN PROP WE TRUST” instead of the real motto.
  • No security thread, color-shifting ink or watermark = it's fake.
  • Real bills have a distinct texture—prop money feels different.
  • Hold it up to the light: Real bills have security features you can see.
  • Be extra cautious during private sales, small business transactions or when dealing with unfamiliar individuals.

Police said someone should not accept the fake money and should instead immediately call law enforcement. They advised the person recall who gave it to them and share details regarding the giver's appearance, car or other details.
